Mount Bromo is a famous natural attraction of east Java because of the experience of a mystical sunrise. The easiest way to get there is by poney from the village of Ngadisari through Sand Ocean until the foot of the volcano, where you have to take 50 steps until the crater rim. The sandy area has 2 volcanoes, the inactive Batok and the Bromo. From the depths of the Bromo sulfur fumes and gases come out and when the mountain god starts to growl, the locals immediately presented him atoning sacrifices. The recurring annual sacrificial ritual is held on the 14 day of the 12th month of Kasada according to the Kasadat calendar. It is an interesting experience watching the inhabitants of the surrounding villages as they march to bow down before the sacred volcano and present sacrifices to him.
